Race Report - Road Ends Trail Run

Sweet man. I love the feeling of sprinting the last whatever stretch of a race, going all out. Good job hanging in there and finishing STRONG!

There's no "petty" prizes... each one is well earned!
[this is good]

I wanna close up of the mug!!! I would love to win anything for being fast. Sounds as if you did a great job analyzing in real time and correcting for issues. It does make me feel better to hear about your hill walking...

I've got some 5K's coming up, nothing near as exciting, and I hope I can manage to redirect in real time when I need to, its been oneof my issues when racing, if i get started all catterwally, I tend to stay that way.

Nice photos from Amanda as well...she makes the races seem exciting, which sometimes they aren't from a spectator standpoint. :)

The mug shot (ha!) will have to wait - I accidentally left it at Amanda's parents' house but my folks will bring it out this weekend.

Recently I read a study of female collegiate cross country runners which found that racers who started fast in 5Ks had faster times, even though they slowed down by necessity for each miles. Those who started slow and ran negative splits had slower times. Maybe it's a case of not really knowing just how fast you can go until you try?
It felt like I could hardly accelerate at the end! I wasn't as fast as I wanted to be, but I agree it's still fun to kick into the finish.
great running Havy. As you said, it's fantastic feeling, and knowing you can pull a fast mile out of the bag right at the end of a race when everything hurts, well, that's gold dust.
Nice job, especially with very little training coming into the race! I know Matt can empathize with that after this past Saturday.
Congratulations on your podium finish! Sounds like you have even better races to look forward to once your training evens out again.

My lack of race pace training contributed to getting dropped on a hilly section of the course at my race Saturday. I felt like doing the equivalent of walking on the bike at the top.
Podium finish? Not exactly... I was one of 50 mug winners. Maybe I was just barely good enough to be pitied?

Looking forward to your race report!
