Hot and Cold
Remember when I used to talk about running in subzero temperatures and driving snow? When I got home from work today it was 84 degrees! For some reason I decided to take both dogs with me despite the prospect of tying my left arm to 140 pounds of pure enthusiasm connected to eight high-traction paws. The experience got me wondering what would happen if I harnessed that canine power?
I intended to run a hard 3.4 miles and that plan worked fine for the first 1.7 miles... When I got to the halfway turn-around the dogs and I were so beat that we took a one-minute break before resuming. The second half was significantly slower - I think none of us were acclimated to the heat yet. Still, I managed a 7:20 pace for the first half and ran a 8:00 pace for the "slow" portion so I was happy with that effort.
Even happier were the dogs when we got home - Amanda had filled the kiddie pool with cold water!
